DOL Processing Time Update and New Form ETA 9089
As of June 1, 2008, all pending PERM Labor Certifications have been transferred to the new Atlanta DOL processing center.Over the past few months, DOL has been adding staff to the processing center for the purpose of more closely reviewing PERM Labor Certifications. The result has been an increase in processing times and more audits. Currently, most PERM Labor Certifications are processed within 3 months. However, 4-month processing times are not unusual. If the application is audited, DOL reports that it's processing times increase by an additional 3 - 8 months.
The U.S. Department of Labor states that it will be implementing a new on-line PERM Labor Certification portal on January 1, 2009, at which time a new PERM Labor Certification form (ETA 9089) will also be launched.
